Birthday Blog (Parts 3 & 4)

Birthday celebrations 3 and 4 took place over the last two weekends. 3 consisted of a girlie night out in Cardiff where fun times were had by all and 4 took place in London over 3 days.

Day 1: We went to see Cemetery Junction and even though none of us are great fans of Ricky Gervais, we absolutely loved this film and were quoting lines all weekend.

Day 2: Portobello Market and the Hummingbird Bakery were our first ports of call, which is becoming a bit of a tradition and a bloody good one at that because I love cake, especially Hummingbird cake

Leah and Terri eating Black Bottom Cupcakes and Red Velvet Whoopie Cakes.

We then tried to purchase tickets for the Grace Kelly: Style Icon Exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum but to no avail. So we went to The Enchanted Palace (Kensington Palace) instead and had a wonderful time trying to find the hidden princesses.

The beautiful Kensington Palace Gardens.

Our evening consisted of eating a fabulous three course meal at Floridita, Soho and drinking the best Mojito's I've ever tasted and trying a 'Dark and Stormy' which, if I remember correctly, is a rum and ginger beer concoction.

Leah and Terri enjoying their Mojito's.

Day 3: Was meant to be a picnic in the park day, but the heavens opened so we decided to browse the boutiques and vintage shops of Northcote Road, Battersea. I then had to leg it to the station with what felt like a large child on my back. I am never attempting to travel home from London on a Sunday and a Marathon weekend ever again, as it is a completely horrendous experience, but at least I made my connection (unlike the last visit to the Big Smoke.)

I am still completely shattered from all the frivolity (it has been 4 days since I got back) but had a great time eating cake, drinking cocktails and running for the tube.

40 Things...40 Days: The Results

So today is day40 of my challenge and therefore the end. I've managed to complete 30 of the tasks I wanted to accomplish, which I believe is a pretty good achievement in itself. Factors such as money, people, time constraints and pure laziness were the reasons for the other 10 not being completed (although they shall all be attempted at some point in the near future.)

So here's what the final list looks like ( blue = completed tasks)

  1. Blog at least 3 times a week.
  2. Get up at 6.30am on a week day.

  20. Finish sewing that white summer skirt.
  21. Buy Terri a present.
  22. Buy Leah a present.
  23. Get a hair cut.
  24. Try that Nut Roast mix I bought.
  25. Stop being such a hypochondriac.
  26. Stop complaining about how tired/ill/generally rubbish I feel in work.
  27. Buy a new camera.
  28. Meet up with Lizzie and Ntongo in the Big Smoke.
  29. Find out where they hold decent Ska/Dub nights in my area.

I really enjoyed the challenge and will start setting myself small, worthwhile goals from now on as it's very rewarding and I really do love a list (geek.)

Blodau

I've just finished making this primrose plant. Although I'm pleased with it, I'm having to calm myself down with a cup of tea because I broke three of the flower heads whilst trying to assemble the bloomin' thing (heh, get it...?)

Arrrgh, never mind, I have a flower free weekend ahead of me which starts tomorrow (whoooo 4 day weekend!) I shall be visiting two of my besties in London, and they have been secret squirrels about what they have planned - I love surprises!

See you soon my little chickadees xx

40: Try a New Cocktail Recipe

Whilst having sleep over fun at Kimmie's, I decided we should all try out a new cocktail. I can't drink/eat pineapple because I have an intolerance to it (weird huh?) Which means I'm not left with a lot of options that aren't hard liquor heavy concoctions (boo hiss.) So I decided to try out a Sea Breeze, seen as though it's probably the least dangerous.

It contains:50ml Vodka
Cranberry Juice
Fresh Grapefruit Juice
Lime Wedge

Pour the Vodka into a Highball glass filled with ice. Fill the glass 3/4 full with cranberry juice and top up with grapefruit juice. Garnish with a lime wedge.

I was a little sceptical; as I'm not the biggest grapefruit fan but it was actually pretty good. I'll definitely make it again.

I got the recipe from Hollywood Cocktails by Mitchell Beazley, with Tobias Steed and Ben Reed.

Birthday Related List Update

Number 34. on the list is 'Add another Momiji to my collection', for any one who doesn't know what a Momiji is, go check out the website: wwwlovemomiji.com I am completely obsessed with collecting them. I have a total of 13 now, with this wonderful little fury, pink creature being the latest edition.

Her name is Tulip and she is a Flock-It Momiji, which means she's all touchy feely.

This is the rest of my collection. You can write messages on a teeny bit of paper and pop it inside the base, so I have lots of lovely messages from friends and family to look at and remind me of good times if I ever feel low. Tulip was given to me by Gemma and Delyn for my birthday - they're so awesome.

This is the rest of my collection (sorry about the rubbish photos) I love them all, but especially those wearing onesies ^_^

List Update: Day 37

18. Read the latest issue of Sew Hip Magazine I managed this quite successfully whilst on holiday, so successfully infact that I also managed to read through another issue of Sew Hip (this is now the latest issue - it came in the post on the day I was leaving for North Wales.) I definite success I think and now I'm very inspired and can't wait to have a little alone time with my sewing machine.

30.Have sleepover fun with Kimmie and Lady Cha Cha This happend over 2 weeks ago now. We ate yummy vegitarian mexican food and Kimmie made the most fantastic guacamole from scratch. Then we watched 'He's Just Not That Into You' and Gossp Girl and chatted until 4am, so a very lovely, girlie night was had by all.

32. Climb a mountain Ok so technically I didn't quite climb an entire mountain all in one go, but as you can see from my photos I think I deserve to cross this off the list.

35. Sort out Drawers/Wardrobe I don't know why I put this off for so long, it only took me an hour and now I can quickly find all the clothes I own that actually fit me.

36. Take unwanted clothes/clutter to the charity shop I technically didn't give my stuff to the charity shop but I did give it to some people who wanted it so I still get that warm fuzzy feeling.

Secret Squirrel

I thought this little critter needed a post all to himself.

Isn't he amazing?! This was my 'surprize' birthday present from The Boy. I'll definitely have to get the website address from him!

Birthday Blog (Parts 1 & 2)

It was my birthday on Monday. Whoooooo. Look at all the cool gifts I received! - I've just realised I've left out some stuff and apparently there is still more on its way. Eeeeeeeee!

I celebrated by going to the local curry house with a few mates; we all had a great night which was topped off with the most amazingly glittery birthday cake I have ever seen! It is pictured here with it's creator, the lovely and glittery Gemma. Oh and what makes it even more fantastical is the fact it's Red Velvet cake, my absolute favourite...mmmmmm..

...but the fun and frolics didn't stop there - I was taken to a lovely restaurant by The Boy and then I went an Indian Buffet with my work colleagues. Fatty McFatFat.

This was the awesome 'Granny Tea Time Cake ' (this is now it's official name ) that Lisa made for me. It was extremely scrummy, Lisa should definitely make cakes for the office more often ^_^

So that was 'Birthday: celebrations 1 & 2', 3 and 4 shall be taking place over the next two weekends, I can't wait!

Thankyou to all who made (and will make) my birthday very special, you are awesome.

^_^

I'm Back!

Well hello there!

I went away with Ma and Pa for Easter, so that is why I haven't posted for a while. We went to North Wales, stayed in a little cottage and walked and walked and walked. I feel very refreshed, it was a brilliant holiday (especially compared to the last one!)

To make it even better I received lots of lovely Easter gifts, here are some from Delyn:

The edible ones didn't quite make it to the photo shoot.

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter.

Saturday, 3 April 2010

I won't be able to post anything here in the next couple of days because I will be net-less. Boo hiss, but I promise there will be lots of updates as soon as I can obtain some wireless signal. Huzzah.

Oh and I just want to say a massive congratulations to Rhiannon & Simon on the arrival of their beautiful baby - Well done Rhi ^_^

Cheerio for now my little munchkins

xoxo

(I watched two episodes of Gossip Girl on Thursday night thanks to Kimmie and now I'm addicted!)
