Monday 11 April 2011

It's my birthday tomorrow but as it's a weekday I decided to celebrate over the weekend. I had a fabulous time eating and drinking in Cardiff with some of my favourite girl friends, it was great to see everyone, I'm so pleased nearly everyone could make it ^_^

This cocktail is called a zombie. They don't tell you what's in it, they set it alight and you're only allowed two in one night, which is kind of scarey but it tastes amazing!

Today I'm going to Cardiff to spend some time with The Boy. We're gonna get sushi! Om nom nom. It's kind of a birthday tradition, not that we ever need an excuse to go for sushi though.

Glamour

Check out these beautiful photos taken by Nick Tucker for Lisa Redman.

My good friend Terri works for Lisa Redman so I get to see a lot of the company's press. I'm always impressed with how elegant and flattering the collections are. There is so much attention to detail in every item of clothing. Swoon.

Birthday Treat

It's my birthday next week so I bought myself a little present.

Isn't she pretty?!

So Here's the Deal...

It's been quite a while hasn't it? I did only intend on taking a week off from posting but that kind of turned into a 'few' weeks; I just got out of the habit of blogging and into the habit of studying. Don't get me wrong, it hasn't been all hard work and no play; I've done quite a few fun things this past month that I've wanted to share but when I sit down at my desk to do anything other than study the fear kicks in and I know it's time to hit the books. I feel slightly guilty that I haven't posted in a while but I've come to the conclusion that I enjoy studying just as much as I enjoy blogging but obviously studying is far more beneficial. Therefore, I won't be posting as often as I have done in the past but I won't totally dissappear off the radar either. It's all about the happy medium, but isn't it always?

Day 23: Favourite MugSurprise, surprise it's a Momiji mug!
It was a birthday present from my brother.

Day 24:Something You're Reading
I'm currently reading:
Science for Conservators Vol. 1
The Thames and Hudson Manual of Book Binding.

New Shoes?

Apart from falling over all the time, it's pretty great having small feet. You can buy trainers at child price and get some great bargains in the sales.

Look at the two pairs of Poetic Licence flats I bought in various sales this week.

Aren't they just darling?!

Day 20: Something You're Good At

I was going to opt for 'lip reading' as something I'm good at. Although it's more of a necessity than a talent, I am pretty bloomin' ace at it. Most people don't even realise that I have a hearing problem, until they try having a conversion without facing me that is. Unfortunately it's not easy depicting 'lip reading' in a photograph, so I went with drawing/illustrating instead.

Day 19: The Oldest Thing You Own

RMS Regimental Sergeant Major Stick.
It's been passed down through the family.
We believe it's from the Boer War.

18. Something With Huge Sentimental Value

This is Rosie the rabbit.
I've had her forever; she was a present from my Nan.
She's doesn't have a tail, but never has. I have no idea why?!

Day 17: Guilty Pleasure Food

Say Cheese!
I don't really feel guilty about eating cheese, it's the amount of cheese that I consume that I should probably feel guilty about. Although that doesn't bother me much either!

Day16: A Random Act of Kindness

Just before Christmas I got a letter in the post from Sam. Inside were these cute little Momiji stickers that she saw in Bath and made her think of me, how sweet is that?!

Sunday 16 January 2011

We have an another chilli crop!

Not sure why they're still so small though, maybe it's because it's the first time the plant has flowered?

Days 10 - 14

10. You, in front of your house.
It's either been too dark or the weather has been too bad for me to take this one, so I thought I'd find an old photo of me instead.
Well, it turns out I can't find any of the ones I know my mother took of my brother and I on the door step for our first day of school and St David's Day etc, so you'll have to make do with the one of me maxin' relaxin' in my front garden instead.

11. Something you waste money on.
I love buying nail varnish but my nails are usually too wreaked for me to wear it. That just leaves me the option of painting my toe nails; which happens approximately 3 times a year, when the British weather is pleasant enough to do so.

12. Favourite Movie Snack.More of a 'movie beverage' I know, but it has to be tea. The Cinema in Hebden Bridge sell mugs of steaming tea. Amazing.

13. Dream Date.Going on an adventure and stumbling across a castle/tower and a plastic toy cow (optional.)

14. Favourite Restaurant.
Yo Sushi, Cardiff.
Ok, I had to 'borrow' this photo but it is most definitely the Cardiff branch.
I know Yo Sushi isn't the best sushi restaurant around but it's the easiest one for me to get to and I like how fun and colourful it is.

Anniversary Give-Away

It's a year since I started this blog, so I've decided to hold a give-away in celebration!

...and some super cute Momiji Zakka goodies.

NB: Not all the prizes will have the same graphics as pictured, as some are random gashapon capsule gifts.

All you have to do to be in with a chance of winning is to: Follow my blog and post a comment about what you collect/have collected in the past.

For extra entries:
  1. Blog about this give-away and send me the link in a separate comment (1 extra entry)
  2. Tweet about this give-away (@Rhi_Mixx) and let me know in a separate comment (1 extra entry)
The closing date for this give-away is Wednesday 26th January (GMT) so you have 10 days to enter.

Good Luck everyone! ^_^

Surreal Sunday

Last Sunday was a little bit surreal. I spent most of the day freezing my ass off in a mini dress, flouncing around Cardiff looking like a well behaved Amy Winehouse.

It was all in a good cause though as my friend needed photos of someone modelling her company's hair extensions, as they are relaunching their website (I'll post a link here as soon as it's up and running.)

It may come to a bit of a surprise to some people that I can be a bit of a poser, as usually I'm quite shy and awkward; around people I don't know that well that is. My shyness started in my early teens when I gained a lot of weight, didn't socialise a great deal and didn't have a lot of self confidence. I gained my confidence back by doing something about my weight and moving as far away as I could get from my home town and my comfort zone. Hence, the 'show off' in me was reborn.

What do you think of the long hair look? A lot my friends say I should grow it but I'm not sure it's very 'me'. It was really fun having it for the day though, I felt super girlie and it's a great way to drastically change your look without having to commit to it.

8 and 9

I've fallen behind with the 30 Day Photo Challenge again. Here are the photos for Day 8. and Day 9. I will post the photos for 10 - 14 tomorrow, I promise.

Day 8: Ugliest article of clothing that you can't get rid of.

Pretty much everything I wear to work is ugly.
It's a very dusty, dirty and mouldy archive so you definitely don't want to wear anything remotely 'nice', but my overall is most definitely the winner in the ugly stakes.
(This photo was taken pre-wash, it's not always this disgusting.)

Day 9: Inside your refrigerator.

There are some definite advantages to living with your parents.
I think we need a bigger fridge.

7. Favourite Room in House

This is my bedroom. I still live with my parents (hopefully not for much longer) so as you can see everything I own is currently in one room. That said, I love how cosy, comfortable and warm my room is and everyone else in the house seems to think so too; it often gets to the point where I have to 'politely' ask them to leave.

4. Last thing you purchased...and more...

Hmmmn, I'm not doing very well with this challenge am I?

I do have a good excuse though; I promised myself that I would do a significant amount of studying this week, which means no internet for Rhi-Mixx. Dun dun duuuun.

As a result of very little net lurking I achieved my goal and have rewarded myself by ordering new stationery and blogging on my night off. After all, I now know how to balance an equation (in my head this makes me a scientist.)

Anyway, enough excuses, onto the challenge:

2. Favourite Shirt
I love this shirt from Topshop, the colours are so pretty, it's soooo comfy and makes me feel good even when I'm having a fat day.

3. Knick-Knack
I made this pottery? and glass butterfly when I was about 15 in art class. The antennae have snapped off but I still have it on display 'cause I'm still proud of how it turned out. Everything else I've put in a kiln has exploded.

4. Last thing you purchased
Technically this isn't the last thing I purchased; that would be the stationery from artbox but as that isn't here yet (boo hiss) I went for last but one. I bought this bag from an ASOS.com flash sale. £60 off! Bargain.

Check out my snazzy glasses chain, totally bitchin' right?
