List Update: Day 12

I was extremely lazy this weekend (which I enjoyed immensely) but I did manage to complete yet more tasks from my 'List.'

6. Watch Footloose - I cannot believe I hadn't seen this before Sunday! Although not exactly what I was expecting, it was right up my street. I love eighties movies...but Kevin Bacon cannot seriously be considered a 'Fox,' not even back in the day.

7. Drink more water - I've been getting into good habits and drinking water throughout the day but I've stepped my efforts up a gear by substituting my usual black tea (and dash of semi-skimmed) for Rooibos. This will hopefully help towards by goal of loosing a few lbs too.

15. Organise Birthday meal - I've been very organised and booked the table almost two weeks in advance!

25. Stop being such a hypochondriac - 'No, you don't have the symptoms of some hideous disease. It's just Acid Reflux, so take your damn Omeprazole woman.'

33. Read a book, any book- I have been reading 'Giants of the Frost' by Kim Wilkins for a few days now but after reading a few chapters yesterday I have really got into it, so I thought I could probably tick this one off the list (because I will finish it, I promise ^_^)

Day 9

Yesterday I finally finished my sugar posy! Here's the proof:

So there we have it, I am now going to cross it off the list and whilst I'm doing that I will also cross off: 'Actually go to my Sugar-Craft Classes,' as I have attended two classes in a row - massive achievement! ^_^

Fatday Thursday

My work colleague Paul and I decided that we were going to have hot turkey rolls with stuffing for our lunch one day this week and I would make a banana cake, as he had never tried it before - and today was the day!

Here is what was left of the 2 banana cakes with cherries and white chocolate by the end of the day.

Although I must emphasise we didn't eat it all ourselves! The rest of my work colleagues and family enjoyed a slice.

I'll put the recipe on here over the weekend so you can all try it!

5 Things I am Coveting This Month

I love all the designs at marymaryhandmade but this is my particular favourite, it's just too cute for words!

Someone make me one of these please, or even all three, you can buy the pattern here. Thankyou.

Fafi 'Ecstasy' trainers for Adidas. Sublime.

Oh Kidrobot, how I love thee.

Pattern Master

I made this skirt about a month ago, but totally forgot to post about it because of my holiday/illness. I love how retro it looks, but I haven't had the opportunity to wear it yet! Roll on Summer.

I bought the fabric from Lee Mill Fabrics in Swansea. I adore this store, it's jam packed with wonderful materials but they are usually 'end of line,' so you have to be quick!

Day Four

Today has been a good day. Some things got ticked off the list (mainly the ones involving money,) I got to walk around Cardiff in the sunshine and Mammy made pie. Awesome.

That Dress - Oasis

Sharpies!

I tried the nut roast mix I bought because the family were having beef and I don't eat red meat. I wasn't entirely convinced.

I'm updating the list all the times so check out my '40 Things...40 Days' post. ^_^

Ganzie

Whooo my new sweat-shirt came in the post this morning, just as I was about to succumb to throwing on a hoodie. Thankyou for saving me from myself Mr Postman.

This super cute baby deer is called Merle, apparently she likes playing hopscotch, going to festivals and tying anything she can into a super-adorable bow and you can find her at www.heidiseeker.com

^_^

Day Three

I'm very close to completing a challenge from my list and it's quite a major one. It's the sugar posy that I should have already completed for my Cake Decoration class, but due to going abroad and then becoming ill I just haven't had the time or the inclination.

I took a special trip to my favourite Sugar Craft shop in Ystrad Mynach and bought some goodies.

I didn't need edible glitter, but then I saw a lady buying some and a bit of glitter makes anything look amazing, so I just had to buy it. I used the dusting powder and the tape to work on some of the posy's components.

I dusted the powder onto the leaves I made on Thursday and then held the leaves over a steaming kettle until the powder had melted and took on a waxy finish.

These are known as 'Single Loops with Tails,' I used the tape to secure the ribbon in place. I love making these, they're so pretty and effective and thankfully not too hard to do either!

Hopefully all of the posy will be done by this coming Thursday ^_^

Day Two

So the list is going well; look 3 posts in 4 days! Unheard of.

I got up at 6.30am and actually had time to pick out a 'decent' outfit and get into work early, which also meant I could finish early. Huzzah!

Myself and The Boy went visiting for the evening, so I decided to make even more of an effort and yet again steered clear of my beloved hoodie. Here's what I wore instead, sorry about the really rubbish photo!

Dress - H&M
Cardigan - H&M
Vest - Topshop
Tights - Topshop
Boots (that you can hardly see, sorry) - ASOS
Necklace - Anna Lou of London

Here's a better picture of my necklaceI absolutely Love ALOF jewellery it's so bright, fun and quirky!

Day One

OK, so I fell at the first hurdle; my alarm went off at 5.30am instead of 6.30am, I sorted this problem quick smart but in my sleepy state I forgot to turn the alarm back on and snoozed until 7.10am. Ooops. But the alarm clock will not get the better of me, I shall awake at 6.30am sharp tomorrow!

Although as the day progressed things got better. I didn't complain once in work, this was mainly due to the fact I received some awesome news this morning, but it's not 100% yet so I will have to keep it on the down low until we have confirmation. Eeeeeeeeeek! So 'cited! Plus I actually went to my cake class and worked on my Sugar Posy. Today it was Calyx (the funny green petal/leaf bit under a flower) and leaves (I hate leaves.)

I hope everyone else had a good day ^_^

40 Things...40 Days

My dear friend Kimmie has informed me that the latest issue of Company Magazine was exclusively written by bloggers, which has inspired her to create her own blog: IckleKimmie's Journal. Though this is only part of a much bigger project, namely '40 Things...40 Days...' You've probably guessed it already, but if you are bit slow on the uptake like I was, here is the basic idea:

You create a list with 40 challenges for yourself and then you spend the next 40 days trying to achieve them. Simple.

So Kimmie has chosen the challenge of challenging me to create a list, and seen as though I was only chastising myself yesterday for not blogging enough I have accepted because now I will have plenty to write about!

Here is my list: The ones in blue are the challenges I've achieved so far ^_^

  1. Blog at least 3 times a week.
  2. Get up at 6.30am on a week day.
  3. Get up at 8am on a weekend.
  4. Start frequenting the gym on a regular basis.
  5. Buy Vampire Weekend's first album.
  6. Watch Footloose.
  7. Drink more water.
  8. Loose a few lbs.
  9. Design a Munny for Split-Screen.
  10. Day Trip.
  11. Buy that dress.
  12. Actually go to my Sugar-craft Classes.
  13. Finish that God damn sugar posy I've been making for what seems like months.
  14. Stop constantly wearing Hoodies.
  15. Organise my birthday meal.
  16. Stop eating so much chocolate.
  17. Sort out these pig trotters I call feet.
  18. READ the latest issue of Sew Hip magazine, don't just look at the pictures.
  19. Make something from any previous Sew Hip magazine.
  20. Finish sewing that white summer skirt.
  21. Buy Terri a present.
  22. Buy Leah a present.
  23. Get a hair cut.
  24. Try that Nut Roast mix I bought.
  25. Stop being such a hypochondriac.
  26. Stop complaining about how tired/ill/generally rubbish I feel in work.
  27. Buy a new camera.
  28. Meet up with Lizzie and Ntongo in the Big Smoke.
  29. Find out where they hold decent Ska/Dub nights in my area.
  30. Have sleepover fun with Kimmie and Lady Cha Cha.
  31. Buy some Sharpies.
  32. Climb a mountain.
  33. Read a book, any book.
  34. Add another Momiji to the collection.
  35. Sort out drawers/wardrobe.
  36. Take unwanted clothes/clutter to the charity shop.
  37. Make meringues.
  38. Go to the cinema.
  39. Hoover.
  40. Try a new cocktail recipe.
So there you have it. I sincerely hope I succeed as there are a few things on this list that have been swimming around my head for ages. Now all I have to do is muster up a bit of enthusiasm and positivity, maybe I should have put that on the list....

Wish me luck!
